Next Technology Tecnotessile, partner of the GALACTICA project, has organized the Learning Expedition in Prato, hosting companies, cluster organisations, students and startups from Spain, Austria and UK. The GALACTICA project aims at promoting innovation and cross-sectoral collaboration among the aerospace, textile and advanced manufacturing sectors.
The international expedition has visited the Prato textile ecosystem to discover more about one of the most important manufacturing area at national and European level, with a strong focus on traditional textile for garment.
The visits of the industrial district of Prato consisted in the exploration of three relevant historic textile companies involved in different segments of the textile value chain. The participants of the Learning Expedition have visited Nuova Fratelli Boretti (a traditional company dealing with the regeneration of textile raw material and circular economy since 1960), Pecci Filati 1884 (historic company specialized in fancy yarns for knitwear production), Lanificio Faliero Sarti (high fashion textile production).
The second day, 9th November, the morning has been dedicated to the cross-sectoral workshop held at the Confindustria Toscana Nord Prato, titled “Discover the textile ecosystem of Prato and linked collaboration opportunities”. The objective was the development of synergies among textile local ecosystem and participants, facilitating the flourishing of collaborative ideas.
The afternoon session was dedicated to the Matchmaking event through which the visiting companies and SMEs had the possibility to meet local actors.
This Learning Expedition is a part of the 8 planned within the GALACTICA framework.
Travel vouchers are still available for the last visits to Hamburg (Germany), Barcelona/Terrassa (Spain), Porto (Portugal).
