The Bio-Acouis project focuses on an actual problem (i.e. the noise), one of the major issues for people who spend most of their time in the workplace or in common areas. Therefore, the main objective is to develop cost-effective acoustic solutions made of bio-based materials, finding out an alternative and more sustainable acoustic system. The combination of bio-based materials – such as agricultural waste, wood chips and nanofibers made purely from biopolymers – will allow the creation of a completely bio-based panel with insulating or sound-absorbing properties. The innovation is represented by the use of cost-effective materials in an industrially scalable process (i.e. airlay and thermo-bonding), obtaining a versatile and modulable product according to the final application.
